The FET FIRST Workshop Practice NQF Levels 2, 3 and 4 Student’s Books each have a Lecturer’s Guide or a Lecturer’s Guide CD-ROM. The Lecturer’s Guides contain comprehensive answers to the activities as well as teaching and assessment guidelines. The FET FIRST Workshop Practice NQF Student’s Books contain photographs and diagrams to aid students’ understanding of the subject. FET FIRST Workshop Practice NQF Level 2 teaches students about safety in the workshop including housekeeping, PPE, power tool safety and the dangers of electricity; safety legislation and regulations; basic first aid and how to complete an accident report. Students are introduced to basic hand and power tools; worksite procedures, including safety signs, firefighting, lockout procedures; basic lifting techniques; legislation pertaining to training; grievance and disciplinary procedures; company rules and quality assurance procedures. Other topics include soldering; welding and gas cutting techniques.
